My name is Kylee Ellisor. I am from Central middle school, and this is my third year participating in the Youth Legislature program as a press delegate, I have been granted the privilege of being able to observe the entirety of the Youth Legislature trials. These [students] truly are remarkable, coming up with incredible bills and speeches. Throughout these trials, students displayed important leadership skills such as teamwork, empathy, social skills, intelligence, and perseverance. Students displayed a great understanding of the legislative process and seemed genuinely passionate about strengthening their communities.
Even outside of trials, my peers have proven to have great character.
During break times, [students can be seen] complimenting one another and enjoying one another’s presence. It is truly great to be able to witness the joy and eagerness of these students, and I trust that each and every one of them will have a bright future. One of my favorite parts of Youth Legislature has been the people. These people are able to use constructive criticism to help one another grow and improve while also building one another up. It is truly beautiful to see others truly happy for others and their achievements and I believe that many lifelong bonds have been created through this program.
